As freelancers we enjoy great freedom, but freelancing can also cause anxiety and stress which at times may feel overwhelming.
One fantastic way of preventing working solo making you feel so low is joining a choir. Various studies have shown that choral singing has significant benefits for both physical and mental health. Apparently, it is possible to sing yourself better!
This year all our members, experienced singers and novices, have the opportunity to find out whether joining a choir might be the right activity for them. We have teamed up with the Hallé for a 3 hour singing session at Hallé St Michael’s in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The workshop is run by Joseph Judge, the Director of the Hallé Choral Academy, whose singing workshops for members of the public are extremely entertaining and great fun, see http://www.josephjudge.co.uk/ and https://www.halle.co.uk/the-halle-family/halle-choral-academy/ .
You think you have no voice? Or you are tone deaf? Don’t worry: If you have vocal cords, you weren’t born deaf and you can distinguish high pitches from lower pitches you can learn how to sing. And you don’t need to be able to read music. Just come along and give it a go! You will be surprised what you are able to do.
Our NWTN session is designed to give you an idea of what singing in a choir is like so that you can pluck up the courage to make contact with a local choir. Please feel free to bring along any number of potential choir buddies (family, friends, colleagues, neighbours) as any new venture will be less daunting when you’re in company. And “The more the merrier” certainly holds true for singing in a choir. Let’s raise the roof!
The ticket price includes light refreshments.
Please register asap so that we have an idea of the numbers we need to cater for. Thanks!
