SUMMARY:Build a Better Website
DESCRIPTION:Ready to get your website working for you? \n\n\n\nAfter her hugely popular events in other regions\, we’re delighted to welcome Bex to the NW. She’ll help us to look at the core ingredients that go into a website and practically show you how to apply them. Over the course of the day we’ll delve deeper into brand voice\, website strategy\, website content and SEO basics. \n\n\n\nThroughout the workshop\, we’ll have breaks to start to practically implement what’s been discussed and you can ask any questions along the way. \n\n\n\nBy the end of our time together\, you’ll have:– basic brand voice guidelines you can apply to ensure consistent messaging (with exercises you can do in your own time to go deeper)– A plan on the web pages you want to create and how you’ll lay it out– An overview on how to write your key pages with a template you can use to think about keywords for discoverability and CTAs for user experience– The beginnings of some web copy– Answers to burning questions \n\n\n\nBring your laptops\, creativity and questions! \n\n\n\nAbout our speaker \n\n\n\nBex is a freelance French and Spanish to English translator and copywriter\, specialising in marketing and creative texts. Bex graduated from Heriot-Watt with a 2:1 in Interpreting and Translating in 2017 and has been working as a freelancer since then. From a business perspective\, Bex is passionate about helping other small businesses smash their goals by creating web copy and translations that people actually want to read. When she’s not working\, Bex loves reading\, running (sometimes!)\, playing board games\, cheering on the Scottish rugby team and trying out new gins. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets \n\n\n\nTo join us for this super useful\, all-day event\, tickets will be available at an early bird price of £25 for NWTN members (valid for the first month of ticket sales)\, rising to £30 thereafter\, and to ITI members for £35. The cost includes a buffet lunch and tea/coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon – excellent value for money! You’ll be able to indicate any dietary needs at the time of booking.

SUMMARY:Summer Walk 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a leisurely six-mile stroll through the beautiful Tame Valley to the north-east of Manchester. \n\n\n\nThe walk starts in Mossley /ˈmɒzli/\, meaning ‘a woodland clearing by a swamp or bog’\, but you’ll be pleased to hear that our walk will not be taking us through any marshy land! Instead\, we’ll be following the tree-lined Micklehurst Loop – an old railway line that used to act as a relief route carrying goods from Stalybridge to Diggle – before joining the Huddersfield canal and following it through to the quaint town of Uppermill. En route\, we’ll be passing several locks and there will no doubt be plenty of opportunities for nature lovers to spot some fabulous flora and fauna. \n\n\n\nMICKLEHURST LOOP\n\n\n\nWeather allowing\, we’ll picnic in the park before heading back along the canal to our starting point\, so a sit-mat might be a good idea. Numerous watering holes along route will provide shelter and refreshment in the event of summer showers. We will also be passing the Greenfield Tesco in case anyone needs to use the public conveniences or stock up on snacks. Upon our return\, there is a lovely little pub on the hillside above the railway station for anyone wishing to sample the local Millstone ale. \n\n\n\nWaterproof walking boots may be recommendable if the weather has been up to its usual tricks the week before as the tow path can get quite muddy. The route is reasonably flat but can get quite narrow in places (particularly under bridges)\, so any dogs or young children that might be joining us will need to be kept on a short leash to avoid having to dive into the canal after them. \n\n\n\nHow to get there \n\n\n\nPublic transport: unfortunately\, TPE have decided that replacement buses are the way to go that weekend. But\, don’t worry\, you can get the train to Stalybridge from Manchester Piccadilly (just under 15 minutes) and then a rail replacement bus to Mossley. There’s also the 356 bus which stops by Stalybridge train station and will take you all the way to Uppermill if you’re joining us a bit later. It takes about 25 minutes and costs £2. This is also an option if you don’t fancy walking all the way back. When you arrive at the station in Mossley\, it’s about a five-minute walk to our starting point. Cross the two pedestrian crossings and head down Mill Street – quite a steep one-way street. At the bottom of Mill Street\, head straight on until you come to the crossroads just after the New Bridge Inn. Turn left at the crossroads onto Station Road and our starting point is about 100 m further on. \n\n\n\nBy car: there is plenty of free roadside parking near our starting point on Station Road\, postcode OL5 9HU https://maps.app.goo.gl/FkTNbBdeg7gDqHQn8
