SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we play host to author and songwriter\, Dr. Elaine Walker\, on Zoom for a morning of creative writing. \n\n\n\nIt can be said that every translator brings something personal to a target text. In turn\, all writers are translators. Creative writing is above all a translational process. Translation therefore plays a significant role for creative writers who work with foreign language texts. When honing our skills\, it is worth remembering the importance that may be placed on the (in)visibility of the translator\, and the concomitant fluency and readability of the translation\, linked to the perceived reader’s expectations. Creative writing exercises are a useful tool to develop and hone a translator’s style. \n\n\n\nSuitable for both beginners and more experienced writers\, we’ll be exploring our own names and the stories that surround them as a starting point and then following where that leads.  \n\n\n\nTickets are priced at £10 and are available via the Eventbrite link given below.
