I chose to do it this way as the individual is still liable for mistakes made by accountancy firms.However, my accounts are not very complicated so perhaps this advice is not very useful. Since 2017 I have used online accountants, Crunch. https://www.crunch.co.uk/
They were very helpful when setting up my UK activity after moving back from France (I set up as a limited company not as a sole trader). They offer tax advice and do all your submissions to the relevant authorities: self-assessment, HMRC, companies house. Always found them very responsive and informative. I pay about £150 a month for all the services I receive. You create your invoices directly in their system and it is all linked together. If this is what you need, it’s a good deal.

As fellow NWTN members and colleagues, I would please urgently need your recommendations for accountants, for those who use one.

For many years, I have used a very dedicated, very helpful accountant, who was recommended by one of you, but he unfortunately retired, about two years ago. Before he retired, he pointed me to Farrel & Choudhary Ltd in Stockport.

I have used Farrel & Choudhary Ltd for the past two years, but am quite disappointed with the service. Not only did I spot several mistakes in their P&L, for each tax year, but they seemed quite cavalier about it all, and weren’t very helpful with explaining things and correcting the mistakes they made (or not) on the online form they submitted to HMRC.

This negative experience has proved quite stressful and very time consuming for me, over the past two years. I have the feeling that they cater more for larger companies, from the range of complex services they offer. I felt they didn’t treat my business with the seriousness and respect it deserved, as a sole trader (a “smaller company”, in their eyes) – which clearly isn’t right.

I would really appreciate it if you could recommend any serious, conscientious accountants who offer great customer service to freelancers, and who are affiliated to the appropriate accounting organisations – which you may have used as a freelancer, ideally over the past few years. They would ideally act as a (qualified) financial advisor, too, for any future needs I may have in this area.

I am actually about to prepare my figures for tax year 2023-2024, and would need to find a good accountant quite quickly, as I am not prepared to use Farrel & Choudhary Ltd any more.

Facebook is more personal. My Instagram account is barely active, but I intend to do better.I will soon post a blog article about LinkedIn, as I have recently attended a webinar on how to make the best of the website and enhance your profile.
It would be interesting to know how others do, and this topic is open to questions as well as advice drawn from your experience.
