Professional Information
Education
BA (1st class Hons) in French; M.Litt (Oxon) by thesis, on Léon Bloy, 19th-century French writer.
Professional Qualifications
I have been translating for around 25 years, focusing primarily on the arts, tourism and museum work, book translation and academic texts, though I have also done my share of translating certificates, commercial texts and other short pieces. I find it both a delight and a challenge to find the right words to enhance any given text and my enthusiasm for this task has never waned.

Additional Information:
I continue to translate regularly for the feminist history journal Clio. My experience in tourism includes many audioguides for cities, regions and art exhibitions (at the Louvre, the Orangerie and the Bodmer Foundation, Switzerland) as well as texts for exhibition catalogues, my most recent assignment being the translation of a catalogue for an exhibition of French Impressionists in Denmark. Italian to English translation includes tourism, fashion and some children’s stories. I have also taught French at Lancaster University and French and Italian in adult education classes.
