North West Translators' Network
North West Translators' Network
As we saw at our “Overview of CAT tools” event in April, this market has long been dominated by two industry leaders: memoQ and SDL/Trados.
These tools can vastly improve our productivity but require a substantial learning effort. Plenty of training material is available on line but translators often struggle with particular aspects of using these tools.
The easiest way to solve problems and make progress is to have an expert explain things to you.
In response to this need, Lone Beheshty (a longstanding NWTN member) will join us to run 2 x 1-day clinics (memoQ on Saturday 30 October and Trados Studio on Sunday 31), each with a maximum of 12 participants.
These clinics are aimed at intermediate and advanced level users (NOT at beginners – remember, the idea is to resolve specific problems or aspects of using the software that you have already encountered). Lone will take questions on all versions of memoQ and Trados (including the latest versions, i.e. memoQ 9.8 and SDL Trados Studio 21 respectively).
Participants will be asked to submit their questions (via Eventbrite) well in advance of the sessions, and Lone will go over them one by one at the session, demonstrating her answers on screen, so that everyone can learn from this collective Q&A session. You may wish to bring your own laptop but this is not essential.
Please note that booking closes
on 22 October
Lone has almost 25 years’ experience of the translation industry, working both as a translator (English into Danish) and a trainer, working both with Trados and memoQ. Since 2009, she has run her own training company, which is now based in Spain. For further information, see: Translation technology courses – Daniatraining.co.uk
