BA Hons French Studies (University of Manchester) (First class honours)
Member of Chartered Institute of Linguists
Associate of Institute of Translation and Interpreting
I am a full-time freelance French translator and interpreter, specialising in law, human rights, asylum and immigration. I have a Masters in Translation, a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) in English law, and a first class honours degree in French Studies. I am on the National Register of Public Service Interpreters, a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and an Associate of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
I work with many different organisations, including courts, police, solicitors, charities, the NHS, mental health organisations and private companies. I also take part in training days training mental health practitioners on good practice in working with interpreters.
In 2008 I was given the opportunity to collaborate with the Finance Director of a property developer for 6 months as his personal translator and interpreter, interpreting at meetings with solicitors, banks and architects. Written translations at this time consisted mainly of legal documents.
I also offer proof-reading, voice-over and French tuition.
