Additional Information:
I have recently graduated from the University of Manchester, UK with an MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies focusing on translation from French and German across a wide variety of text types. In addition to my mother tongue (English), French, and German, I am also fluent in Swedish. I graduated from the University of Hull with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Combined Languages (French, German and Swedish). I was one of the first ten students to study a three-language degree in the UK, and the very first to study the above language combination.
I have communicated cross-culturally, using my foreign language skills, throughout my career. I have communicated verbally and in writing in the native languages of the internal and external customers, and suppliers linked to some of the largest multinational companies, working in various departments: financial accounting (AstraZeneca UK Ltd), human resources (Marks and Spencer plc UK), supply chain management and technical support (Intel Corporation UK Ltd.), and as an executive assistant providing administrative support (Motorola UK Ltd.).
Having worked extensively as a Project Manager, I have enjoyed many opportunities to work in Europe e.g. at AstraZeneca, Paris when I worked alongside the financial accounting department to develop, change, optimise and train French colleagues in new standard operating procedures on SAP for the Purchase to Pay cycle as a result of transactional operations moving to a shared financial service centre in Manchester.
At Intel, I worked in both European head offices: in Swindon, UK, and in Munich, Germany where I communicated with German speaking customers on a daily basis to update them on the fulfilment of their orders and to discuss any supply chain issues with them on behalf of the German speaking salesforce.
I am actively looking for work in translation from either of my three languages into English, focusing on commercial texts linked to my previous experience specialising in finance, marketing and/or company communications.
I am also looking for work as a literary translator and am currently translating the German novel, ‘Serpentinen’, by Bov Bjerg, shortlisted in September 2020 for the German Book Prize.
I am also interested in art history and education from primary to academic level.
